Is 2006 CLS "riddled" with 1st yr problems or that's a myth?
Hey guys, I'm selling my BMW in the coming months and have been looking at the 06 vs 07 CLS's. A colleague who used to work for a highend car dealership said to be careful and stay away from the 06 CLS especially models before a certain date of production. Could someone please tell me what date that would be?
I just refuse to believe there were that many "buybacks" and such involved with the 06 model, but thought to ask anyway just to be sure.
If the 1st year bug problems are bad, were they fixed for the 07 model year so I know what to look for?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Merc CLS500 & BMW X3
This may not help much but I bought an 06 in early Sept of 08 which had been in service since April of 05 (it's warranty expires in April 09). I don't drive it much so the car still only has 29K miles but I have had nothing go wrong at all so far. Absolutely love this car--owned 7 BMW's in the past and will stick with MB now

My 06
So far at 40k it has been perfect. The chrome chipped on the cup holder and was fixed under warranty. Car is awesome. First Benz after 4 Beemers. I'll stay with Mercedes from now on.

I have an 06 CLS, only two issues:
1. Cup holder - under warranty replaced, really was my wife's fault. She wasted a little shake on it, and the pop-up was sticky.
2. Fresh air pump needed to be replaced, under warranty.
Other than that, best car I ever had. 52K on her, I only drive her on Friday/Saturday now.

in your Mom's car
Damn, I should've got my cupholder replaced this past weekend. Mine is chipping as well. The only problem I've had is my door handle sensor for the Keyless Go went out so they replaced the door handle yesterday under warranty. Other than that just brake pads and regular service. I've had the car since Jan. 08

cls 55 amg
i've had the 55 for some time now, and the only problem i had was the motor mount needed to be replaced, and the tele aid gave me a message that it wasnt working. so nothing major at all.
however, i would still reccomend getting an extended warranty for your peace of mind.

Thanks so much guys! This gives me a lot of confidence to get an 06 if the right one comes along. With the bimmer I got four years of warranty and maintenance free for 50K miles. What's the CLS warranty like?
