Removing water stains from door trim?

Just purchased an '07 CLS 550, unfortunately it seems to have water/acid rain stains on the chrome trim around the doors/windows. It really isn't too bad, just looks like there are water spots on the trim that won't rub off. I spoke to the dealership and they offered to replace all the trim, which is apparently a lengthy operation, or write me a check for $850. Looking for your opinions on what I should do... take cash or have them replace the trim.

I'm leaning towards taking the cash and attempting to polish out the spots myself. Any recommendations on good products for removing stains on chrome trim? At least I think the trim is made of chrome...

Thanks!

It's a $5 - $10 experiment but you might want to try some Sunnybrite. It's supposed to work on chrome and nickel finishes and remove hard water stains. It works ok on brushed nickel bathroom fixtures but not sure about the chrome.

Best to spot test first and apply very gently because it may leave you with scratches.
