Is it possible to turn off the interior lights?

Don't know if they interior lights are built to stay on all the time (very dim but still on) or can they be programmed to go off completely?

Anyone know?

I want them to come on when I open the door but off (completely off) when I close the door.

Are you talking about the ring of light around the overhead light cluster like in the picture? You can turn this off in the multifunction display in the instrument cluster. Go to the Settings menu and then scroll down to lighting and set ambient lighting to 0.

That worked perfect,.. do you have anything for the rear and under the dash?

Thanks in advance.

Great! Under the dash and in the door handles you cannot turn off. For the rear there is actually a button directly on the overhead unit. There is one for raising the light and one for lowering. Just push and hold the one that is for lowering (I think it shows a hollow bar) until the light is off.

Just curious, but why don't you like the ambient lighting, I think it gives the car a more luxurious look.

Thanks!,.. I do like it but when driving in complete darkness (I live in the sticks) the light is quite distracting and my night vision is not that great as it is

The 2008+ don't even have the rear ambient lighting anyway. Thank you MB for saving a whole 2 bucks on an $80k car.

Yeah I miss that from my E350.
