Transmission oil change needed at 39kmiles?
Hi,
I just had my 08 CLS550 for service and they told me at 39k miles I need to do a transmission oil change that is $650.
Anybody know the validity of this?
Thanks,
Adrian

See page 4. Although sheet states states once @ 39000 I recommend changing ATF every 40000.

Transmission oil and filter change is recommended in the Maintenance Manual to be performed only once at 39,000 miles. It is an expensive process because it is complicated and requires special tools and special oil. You can search the Forum and find a description of the procedure, but I was surprised at how many steps there are.
I had mine done for my 07 CLS550 for $225 at a private Mercedes Shop in Newport Beach, CA called MB Elite http://www.mbeliteservice.com. As I recall, Fletcher Jones Mercedes (http://www.fjmercedes.com/service-menu.htm) in Newport Beach wanted about $400. $650 seems out line. I recommend you get some additional quotes. But I wouldn't recommend going to a non Mercedes certified shop.
