Pulling the trigger!

Hey guys, after easily convincing my uncle out of a Lexus GS450h to the CLS (all it took was a few pictures), he wants to buy immediately this weekend. What prices are we looking at here from your guy's car? I looked online and the ones we want are around 45k. He is looking for a black, with the highest options and the amg kit. Is there really a difference between the 500 and the 550 besides the engine? And when did they change the instrument panel to black from white. <--- That's one of the key point for me, don't like the white very much. Anyways, should he just save money and get an 06 CLS500 over the 07+? Hes looking around 35k with "medium" mileage. Do you guys think the amg kit is worth it? Seems to be the biggest hold back.

Of course for me, I told him to save for a cls55. But as we wait for one to come down in price, as will his hummer trade in valued at 29k by one dealership. I'm in the bay area if that is relevant. Don't know much about the cls so thanks for all your help in advance!

You really can't lose with an AMG. Except maybe your wallet, and thats what is holding my uncle back. Its not in his price range so we looked at the 550, since the engine is pretty strong. Its strong in our S-class so I figured it would be even better in the CLS. I am still finding difficulties for the right price.

Well he did it, bought it from Dublin, CA.

CLS 550 "AMG" - came with the amg badge and the FIRST "mod" he did was take it off because the entire drive home, I was giving in a hard time that his car was not an AMG. He is quite happy with the purchase, and got a trade in for his hummer value at 23k. A little lower than expected but fair deal. The entire transaction time, I was eyeing that E63 and the orange murcei on the other side of the show room. Next time...

Don't fake the funk w/ AMG badges. Either plunk the extra $$$ and buy the real thing or enjoy the base model.

CLS 550
Congrats! In my personal opinion, the 550 is powerful enough assuming it's going to be a daily driver. Yes I would LOVE to have a 55Komp or a 63 but my 550 spanks a LOT more cars than it gets spanked by (now that I think about it I've yet receive a spanking lol).. I've messed around with a few Ricers and Muscle Cars at stop lights and every time that the next light comes up they pull up next to me and I hear the same thing, "I had no clue that those things were THAT fast!". Literally has happened on multiple occasions, 550 may not be the most powerful of the CLS's but it definitely does not disappoint.
