Engine vibration issue
I have a 2007 CLS 550 with 35K miles. I am experiencing an engine vibration between 1200 and 2000 rpm. The vibration is most noticeable with the transmission in park or neutral and reving the engine into the 1200 to 2000 rpm range. The vibration is also noticeable to a lesser degree while driving the car at any speed in this rpm range. However, with the transmission in drive or reverse and with the brake applied (car sitting still) I can rev the engine into this rpm range and there is no vibration present.
The local dealership has replaced the engine mounts and the crank pulley (balancer) within the last 2 weeks but neither of these changes have made any improvement.
There is no CEL or codes present. I'm wondering if it could be transmission or torque converter related. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
