Question Should I buy the CPO extended Warranty?

I just purchased a 2008 CLS with 7K miles on it. The original warranty expires in November 2011 and the CPO in November 2012. I drive only 12K per year. I will be out of warrenty at approximately 25K miles. I plan on keeping the car for the 2 extra years but I don't think it is worth spending $3200 for two years of warranty with a car with only 25K miles. I would go out of warranty when the car is at 50K miles.

Do you agree?

Just my opinion

I have a 04 sl 55 and I was warned not to purchase any of these vehicles without a warranty. It boils down to peace of mind when it breaks down. You can get a warranty that transfers when you sell it because a smart buyer will be happy to see you made that purchase. I personally wouldn't want to be counting miles worrying about going over. Good Luck.

When I traded my SLK55 AMG to a dealer(Isringhausen in IL) for my CLS550, I discovered that when trading to a dealer, a factory extended warranty (7yr, 100K miles) does not transfer to a new owner who buys it through the dealer. Therefore it does not increase the trade-in value. It would transfer to a private party buyer. I did purchase another 7/100K one for the CLS, but with that few miles in this case, I'd probably not do so.

I paid 2500 for the same warranty. Not sure if you'd feel differently if that was the price. I called around before I bought mine from the dealer that sold me my car. Also, my understanding is that you can get a pro-rated refund if you sell the car before the warranty expires. Anyone know something different?

There are some restrictions on this refund, about which I unfortunately don't recall the details. But it did not apply when I traded my SLK55 AMG. Suggest you check fully with the dealer before assuming this applies.
