red 2012 cls63
did any of you notice the promotional videos / pictures for the 2012 cls62 included a red version? but ut turns out that that color is not available in the US. how do they come up with their color choices? there's an ugly broown available that nobody will buy but we can't even get a red - even though though other MBs come in red. and by red i don't mean maroon.

what do you mean by that? aftermarket? my local dealer told me that red was not available for the US market, period. any of us can take our vehicles to a custom painter and paint it any color. what i am asking is, if i spend $100k+ on a car, why can't i choose an exciting color (black, white, silver isn't for everyone)?

i know that used to be the case. the dealer would simply charge you a deposit to make sure you bought the car with the "unusual" color plus a fee (i don't think it was much more than $1000). but i don't think that is the case now...maybe it depends on the dealer??

a 1000? Isn't that extremely low. I thought typical prices were 4000..and could be upwards to 10000 for designo. But I wonder if this option is only available for the AMGs now. I was just on the website and it says contact your dealer for designo options on the amg build, but doesn't have that option available for the 550.

$1000 sounds low to me too but that's what i remember. but the paint options weren't custom. they were simply paint options from other MB models. I think what they said was that as long as the car you were buying was made in the same factory as another MB model with a paint option you wanted, this could be done. i have no idea iof CLS's are made in the same factory as C classes or SL classes but those two have the mars red i want. i'm going to call some dealers and let you know if i get a different story

Mars Red was possible as special order on 1st generation CLS
Mars Red was a special order on my car. It was ordered through MB of Miami. Even though I got mine as pre-owned, MB of Miami has ordered at least two CLSs in Mars Red in the past: 2006 CLS55 and 2007 CLS63 (my car). I would give MB of Miami a call for a 2012 in Mars Red. Good luck.

That looks Awesome in Mars Red ! ! Good thing i didnt know about this before igot mine, cause i'd be going crazy trying to look for one. I never saw one listed for sale, so they must be Ultra rare . . . . . . i wonde rif we can find actual production numbers irght down to colors for each year . ..
