QUESTION: 2006 CLS 500

I'm looking to remove the CLS 500 emblem from the back of my car.
My question is this: If I remove the chrome badge, what will the paint look like underneath it?
Has anyone had experience removing badges from their cars of 6 years or older?
I have this bad feeling that if I remove the chrome badge there's going to be like a faded outline
that you'll still be able to see and it'll look worse than actually have the badge.

Has anyone done this with older model benzes and had any experience?
If I take it off should I be prepared to have it repainted or what? Thanks guys

I would think that you might need to buff/polish the area. Fortunatley for us, MB uses a decent quality paint (the clear is excellent) and the color shouldnt have changed much. Give it a shot. If you cant get buff it to blend, you could always put the emblem back on.

I took mine off but only to paint them gunmetal. There was residue so I used gasoline to wipe it down and put emblems back on.

When you took them off, how did it look? And how did it look once wiped down with the gasoline?
