Help -CLS550 4MATIC 2013-Rear Air Bags
Hello all
I'm new to the forums-so please bear with my question:
I'm close to getting a CLS 4MATIC 2013. Considering we have twins , we're eager on getting the rear air bag option- however, none of the nationally available inventory in o8r choice of exterior color/interior options seem to have rear air bags available, short of placing a build-to-order
The dealers I have been speaking to seem are non-committal on the exact specs of what the rear air bags have to offer in terms of safety, and there is little info availalble on the internet.
Can you share your thoughts/experiences?
- How critical do you consider the rear air bags on the CLS 550?
- Does anyone on the forums have the specs/details on what safety the rear air bags have to offer on the CLS 550? (for example, Bimmers provide exact specifications such as thoracic air bag option, etc.,, but I can't find anything even in the CLS user manuals on the mbusa website).

Anyone on the forums who elected the rear airbag option for their CLS?I realize this is a personal preference, but there seems to be very little data extolling the benefits of rear ABags on the CLS- even NHTSA hasn't published any test results or ratings for this CLS option.

My 2013 CLS550 is currently on order and I have 2 small children as well - I opted to get the airbags --- god forbid we were in a crash and we needed them.
