Price of aftermarket mufflers
Can anyone explain why aftermarket mufflers are so expensive? As best I can tell, Meisterschaft is one of the cheapest at about $2500. My son just purchased a stainless system for his VW for around $350. Of course, that is only one muffler, but even when you double it, it's less than 1/3 the price.
Is is just because the sellers (from manufacturer on down) know that MB is expensive, and assume that MB owners can afford and will pay a price commensurate with the price of the car? Or is there some aspect of the system that really costs that much more to make?

I agree!! I been other automotive business for 25 years, and I can clearly tell you these company's know you have money and make up this astronomical prices!!! $2500 -3500 for mufflers is down right robbery.. I can build a total stainless complete system for that price..... Not just mufflers...
Stainless mufflers with tips should be around 800-1100 bolt on with hardware for mercedes...
Did you ever see some of these places??? They are multi million dollar operations and thats how they do it.
Tips is not only mercedes ... This goes for all hi-end Car tuners and modification places...

meiesterchaft exhaust is a good exhaust eissenmenn is around same price...i paid 2100 for my meisterchaft...no regrets...love the tips..
