Airmatic problem - left side of car way too low

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue with my 2007 CLS550. I took my car out for a drive last weekend and as soon as I parked it, I noticed that the rear left side of my car was way too low. I installed lowering links a while ago so my car is already pretty low and now the one side is much lower than the rest of the vehicle. Weirdly, I did not get any error messages pop up. When I start the car after its been parked and press the raise button, you can see the rear left side struggling to raise up. It will slowly go up then slightly come down then try to go up again. It finally gets to the normal position, but after driving it for a few minutes, it goes back down and you can hear a thump sound when that rear tire goes over a bump.

What do you guys think? Do you think its the air spring or would it be the air shock? I want to order the part online, but I guess I should probably just see a benz mechanic first?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would say get it checked first...could just be a leaky line / worn-out connection and may not be the actual shock that is leaking

Ya, I ended up getting it checked first. My mechanic charges $100/hour, which I think is ridiculous, but he definitely knows what hes talking about. It turns out that there weren't any leaks. The rear air spring is gone. It can't get to its second bellow he was saying. It tries to go up but comes back down. I ordered a remanufactured air spring. I was going to buy an oem one, but its double the price. Well, I actually still have the option of buying a new one if anyone thinks its worth it?
