Does 255 35 20 fit CLS (front)
I have a 2008 cls550 . I have had a 255 30 20 on for test fit on front, and fit fine. But can a 255 "35" 20 fit.? The strut mount is close but not sure...
I am going to run 305 25 20 rear and 255 35 20 front
Any one have this set up ???

I wouldn't run that setup. I'm sure that it will work, but your front end is going to sit up higher than the rear not to mention the tires won't look anywhere close to a similar size.

Fronts are 9 (from what I remember) and rears are 10.5
I really don't think your going to see 1/4 height difference on a lowered cls . I am going to run305 25 20 in the rear.
I rather have that tiny extra 1/4 difference there for protection and maybe some ride comfort. Lol
I hate when I see tires that are stretched onto wheels. Rims ARE NEVER suposed to sick out past the tires. This is not a dub magazine and definitely not Japanese cars. If everyone just gets right size rims you wouldn't have to do that.

It will ride fine but when making turns or going have bumps, it will rub against the car and if u hit a good enough bump, that tire will rip.
I am running 19x9.5 all around with 255/35/19 and 295/30/19

what do you think its going to hit ? I disagree if you mean the mount . If the tire fits on and clears the airbag mount even if its 1/8 -1/4 inch away how would it rub ? When you hit dip/bump the tire goes up as well as the mount . Everything works as one motion.

It will mount and such fine but taking U Turns....K Turns you will hear it rub. I had same issue with 20s I got where the profile was a size bigger and kept rubbing but than again I am lowered.

I don't think they will rub . I just want to know if there going to clear airbag mount. Someone has to be running this size.
You said they would rub when you turn ?. On what? Your offsets are wrong if your having tires rub on inner fender well or outside fenders. I am sure you know this. This bigger tire size I am talking about can only possibly rub on air bag mount. I had 255 30 20 and had plenty of room all around. With car lowered.

I really do not think it will fit. In the winter I run 265/40/18 in the front and there is less than 0.3" of clearance between the top of the tire and the lowest part of the upper A-arm.
The 265/40/18 has a diameter of 26.3" and the 255/35/20 would have a diameter of 27.0"
Half the difference is 27.0" - 26.3" = 0.7" / 2 = 0.35"
Based on what I've seen inside my wheel well, there is not another 0.35" of clearance vs. the 265/40/18 set-up

My wheels are all OEM wheels and they rubbed before. If you reallllllly think it will work, try it out and see. No point of asking us if your going to do what you want to do.

I have 245/35/20 toyo proxes 4 on my fronts lowered on a carlsson elm no problems just a slight rub on inside plastic wheel well when reversing with wheel turned all the way locked. 245/35/20 overall diameter is 26.8" and a 255/35/20 toyo proxes 4 overall diameter is 27" only 0.02 of an inch difference. If I was to run this size my opinion I should be fine clearing the lower ball joint bolt. I see a lot of tires that are 255/35/20 have a overall diameter of 27" but I guess it would depend on tire brand? Offset is the key for rubbing.

That's what I was asking. So it might be that .3 too big thanks for the info on the tires your running..
I have a et 25mm front rim , and I was looking to run a 255 35 20 Falken 452's. I can push the wheel out another 5mm if I had to for clearance. (Spacer)
Rabbi, I am asking about a certain tire, and your rims don't even run the same size, you run rear rims in front and back. I am not going to do it anyway, that's why I am asking to see if anyone has the same size. Thanks for the info anyway.
I have a guy with these tires hundreds less so don't want to drive out there for nothing .. He's selling the set together . Ordered for a customer, never picked up. So now he wants to sell.
All info you guys give is greatly appreciated ..

No I didn't do this the 255 "35"20 is to tall. Inner clearance is not the problem the height is. It's 27" tall and that's about .3 of an inch to tall! (Spacer will only push you out and that will not help)

I am in Phoenix. I was thinking that because I am stock height that it would be ok. That sounds logical, right?
I mean, people lower their cars like an inch and are still ok with regular diameters(26). What's the difference in lowering with a 26" or leaving stock but going to a 27"?
Thanks!!! These are very helpful conversations for me. Craig
