Need advice - Repair or replace bumper
Need to make a decision this weekend. Bought 07 CLS550 knowing that the center part of the front bumper skin had a split. It barely can be seen if you are standing over it but it splits the entire length underneath. Probably 5" or so?
Estimate to repair is $800.
The shop removed it and said that it is too much of a split and the AMG bumpers have little support there already. They say that it will be guaranteed to split again as soon as it is touched and this part of the bumper is a scrape waiting to happen.
Since the skin is $2200 the new replace/paint is $2900.
Should I take it to another shop and get someone who will take a chance on it not splitting?
