Considering a CLS550? Any warnings?

Hi everyone.

I am torn between the E550 Coupe and a CLS550.

Any advice out there, perhaps warnings or things to look out for?

Were there any "bad" years that have more issues than others?

Just looking for general advice and suggestions...

Any engine issues with the 550s or other mechanical concerns?

I figure I will search for one with about 50k to 70k miles on it, should I anticipate any issues with higher miles?

(remembering an old Towncar my parents owned that needed new air suspension every 80k miles, I would like to avoid that sort of concern with a MB)

Any advice to someone fairly new to the brand?

Thanks in advance!!!

2008 CLS550
I have a 2008 CLS550, and am delighted with it. The unique styling is one of its best features -- I regularly get unsolicited compliments on how good the car looks. The only problems I've had in 41,000 miles is three headlights burned out (the service adviser says this is very unusual) and two "keyless go" door locks that failed.

The newest CLS550's have a little more headroom in the rear seating area, which is nice inside but takes away from the distinctive aerodynamic exterior lines that make the car unique.

Overall I really love the car. I guess the comparable E-Class is similar but more mundane in appearance.

Thank you for the feedback. Any known issues I should watch out for?

2008 CLS550
My knowledge of CLS550's is limited to my own. But I can't think of a single negative or issue that would steer anyone away from owning one.

Just one thought, though. It's truly a 4 passenger car -- there's no way to fit a 3rd person in the rear seating area.

I'd say go with the E coupe. I love my CLS, its very classy and different. It feels like a pig. Its pretty quick but you can definitely feel the weight on it. Maybe its because I came from a slk55. But if you like to do some aggressive driving than you won't enjoy the CLS550 as unless you go with a AMG.

CLS 550
Definitely the CLS 550. I purchased mine with 114k miles and the car and I did 20k in the last year; it is a 2007 mint condition...382HP.
I normally drive high speed 80mph to 95mph and sometimes 100 miles per hour...
Car is super fast and ride is superb...problems I have in one year " NONE", chaging oil and filter only...
I had 3 BMWs 745 LI, one 330CI and not any one of them gives you the pleasure of driving like CLS 550. The AMG has to be even more aggressive but at 12 miles per gallon with 500 HP.

The car closed to this kind of driving is the 550i M package.

I would buy a 2009 model.
