problem locking plus upgrades

Hello. I have a 2005 CLS 500 with the factory fitted AMG body kit etc. It has the keyless start with a push button on gearstick, and keyless entry.
However for the past month I am not always able to lock the car either by using either key fob or by pressing the button on the handle. Usually I would press the door button on drivers side (the other ones never worked, or arnt set?) and all the doors would lock. Now about 25% of the time it works, the rest it wont. The keys will only work to unlock, when I push on either key they unlock the car but lock will not work. Any thoughts?

Also. I am new to this forum and car. I bought it in November. Usually I change my car every year but I like this one and want to upgrade it. I've bought custom rims, custom exhaust. What other things can I do? any internal mods out there? I like toys and gadgets. Also any ways of getting more out of the engine without risk of damaging or shorting the lifespan? Thanks in advance

It sounds like you need a new handle. How about driver side or rear door handles do they still work ?

the other doors never worked, although i am wondering if thats something in the settings. But would that explain why the remote lock never works? (from either key)

If you have Keyless option in your car and i assume that you do then Any of 4 door handles is able to lock and unlock the door .If all of them went bad may be this is where you have to start. I have driver door handle that needs to be replaced but i am too lazy to do it, i am using my rear door handle to unlock the car i usually have to open it anyway to put my briefcase there .
Also did you replaced battery in key fob with new ones ?

well i solved it. Yes of course changing the batteries was first thing I did. The keys looked a bit tacky so I ordered a new one for 300 euros. when it arrived everything worked again. I guess there was a malfunction in the previous two keys, they were very worn. everyone working now. thanks

Well i have to say this is the worst car I had, sold it now but to cut a long story short within 4 months I had the following problems.
- front suspension failed
- back door catch needed replacing as door wouldnt close
- front passenger door window motor needed replacing
- Engine water pump failed
- main screen and buttons in middle failed, had to be reset twice
- strange sound from rear
- alternator belt needed replacing
- sunroof wouldnt open
- controls for driver seat, the top button stopped working
- Exhaust needed replacing

I sold the car in the end to cut my losses. It had arond 70k miles which is nothing. Bought a BMW750i with 90k miles, had it a couple of months and not one problem and everything works. I think Skoda is better than the mercedes cls.
