Roaring sound from engin compartment between 4-5000rpm
Hi Guys,
Happy New Year!
A few weeks ago I noticed a strange roaring sound from the engine compartment between 4-5000rpm. This happens mostly when I hit kick-down, but also occasionally under normal acceleration. I went to the dealer, but they told me everything was fine with the engine, suspension and exhaust system. No errors on STAR as well. The mechanics were able to reproduce the sound while driving, but told me they cannot find a particular reason for it. Their only doubt was the torque converter, but as stated above, there were no errors for the engine or transmission and clearly there is no vibration inside the car.
Any ideas?
My father thinks the sound comes from the oil pump, because it cannot create the desired pressure when I hit kick-down. Some clogged valve maybe?
Forgot to mention the car is 2005 CLS350 - M272 engine.
