The 222,000 mile CLS500

Yes you read the title right, my 2006 Mercedes CLS500 has 222,000 miles on it. I purchased the car 3 years ago with 100,000 miles and have driven it like there's no tomorrow. Even with my recent purchase of a 2012 CLS550 I still use this one as my daily driver. Now many of you might be asking "you must've done a lot of work to keep it going that long" WRONG. Here's everything I've had replaced on it in 3 years. The idler pulley was replaced twice (second time because the first time the mechanic didn't install it correctly and it basically melted off), front suspension, front lower ball joints, serpentine belt, secondary air pump. All of this cost me around $2000 (not including regular maintenance brakes, oil changes, etc.) in 3 years which I think is pretty reasonable. Mechanically the car is sound and drives like new. I've been pretty astonished myself that this thing just keeps going day in and day out with no major issues. The odd thing is I enjoy driving the CLS500 more than my CLS550 I know sounds crazy but there's just something about this car that I can't get myself to let go of it. Even if this car gave out on me tomorrow I wouldn't be mad it's treated me amazing. This is just another example of how amazing these cars truly are. Just a little appreciation post for these amazing automobiles. Anyone out there have more mileage than this one?

Congrats, Mercedes gives out radiator/grill badge for cars like your who meet certain mileage milestones. You can get the app from MBUSA.

Nice, you never had to replace any of the airshocks?

My front driver side went out last summer so I just went and replaced both front ones. Luckily I have a guy here that sells them used for $250 a piece.

Nice, I take it you did much of the maintenance yourself?

Great looking pair of CLSs! I have the exact same pair, just in different colors. And, I have also been pleasantly surprised by how well my 2006 CLS500 has held up. Being an almost 12 year old car, it is still runs strong and can keep up with a lot of the modern luxury high performance sedans.

My pair of CLSs...'06 and '12
