LED Star Mod??

Hi All;
Just noticed gorgeous Mercedes LED star emblems on ebay, but they do not appear to be compatible with my 2006 CLS500:

Has anyone successfully done this mod, and if so, what part did you purchase?
Thank you very much in advance!

While one of my most disliked OEM accessories the star is compatible with your vehicle as the size and mount is the same as later models, wiring is not direct plug and play but you have numerous choices.

Btw NOT compatible on cars with Distronic

AH so the star is the SAME?!
I'd run a wire to the fuse box with a fuse tap anyways.
I take it that people find this mod TACKY? hahaha

What I don't understand is why the CLA, one of Mercedes cheapest models always has the lighted star option? Did Mercedes option these cars with this lighted star?

Well luckily for us that don't like it, it's not compatible with cars that have Mercedes' smart cruise control "Distronic" which is most of the premium Mercedes now. This leads to it being featured on the lower cost cars exclusively which will likely be its demise as people usually don't want to highlight they got a lower end Mercedes.

I ended buying the LED star from China for about $25. It appears that it will fit my grill, so one day when I am looking for something to do I may try it out. Note it is not plug-and-play. There is a red and black wire you have to tap into a 12V power source. I plan to use a fuse tap.
