Front suspension rebuild preloading question

Hello guys,
I have been doing a front suspension rebuild on my CLS the whole weekend due to tremendous inner tyre wear. I know perfectly well how to preload a suspension, but the cls seems so low on the front that I find it almost impossible to do it in my garage even on bricks, logs, boards or other types of assistance. I have not undone the upper control arm and I have seen that it stays 6 cm from a point in the wheel well ( I have chosen one as reference) when the ball joint is detached from the knucle. Thus tells me that the UCA is clocked at 6 cm. I have suspended the car on the LCA with a jack stand under and measured 5.5 cm at the uca from the reference point. I have tightened the torque strut and the lca bushing at this position. Finally when I have put the car on its wheels the uca went to 2.5cm further upward and twisted a bit. I'm wondering if these 3 cm of difference will compromise the bushing. I don't know what to do. Should I go a*al and untighten and try to preload at 2.5 cm?
Thank you!
