New CLS owner and had some questions and a new issue
So purchased a base model 07 Mercedes CLS 550 with 40k miles couple months ago. Car has been running great until yesterday when I noticed a loud buzzing sound in the engine area. When I stopped to check it out the radiator/ cooling fan was on high mode
My mechanic said I need a new ECM? True? There's no fan switch control module of some sort?
Also was looking to get a AMG front lip style but can only find it with amg style front bumpers. Does anyone make one for the base model version?
Would suggest you scan for codes and act accordingly. If your mechanic doesn’t have a SDS or high end SnapOn scanner it’s time for a new mechanic. These instruments are essential to properly diagnose the CLS.
There are current posts in the W211 and W212 sections about fans stuck on high mode. The issue seems to be simple or very complex due to multiple relays and connections to other components.
This is might be one that drives you nuts and you could replace things not broken until a good mechanic with Star scanning gets exactly what your situation is.
