Battery rapid voltage drop while driving?! How?

Hope you guys can help me out with this one. Started my car today and battery was full voltage. Drove about 5 minutes and suddenly radio turns off, as well as AC, and I got the "convenience features temporarily unavailable" indicatung low battery.

How could my battery drop like that? Is that necessarily a bad alternator? My plan is to monitor voltage on the dash next time I drive; I had to park my mercedes and take the civic on my road trip. And of course my I heard about it the whole trip from my wife...

Aside from alternator, could it be something else. Note I believe I have had a parasitic battery issue lately, and my battery voltage has been going up to 14.2v while driving??

Hey Buddy, I do not think I am getting overcharging since my car is getting to the normal 14.2v while driving. But the voltage randomly drops to about 12v and then returns to 14.2v. Is this what happened to you as well??

14.2 v is the normal charging voltage read by the dash display.
Float voltage is 13.4v so anything less will parasitically drain the battery.
