Engine dead at 98000 miles!!

2005 cls 350 well looked after developed fatal timing problem, something to do with self adjusting chain tensioner that started off as a clicking sound briefly before the end.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks for any advice

If the engine is in the M272 family it may be the balance shaft issue. Do some research to see if your engine falls in the range of the problem. Fault codes will point to the common balance shaft issues.
