Easy Fix for Trunk Fob Key Not Working
I just fixed the reason why the key in the fob key does not work on lots of MB's. Mine is a 2008 MB CLS 550
I took out the 2 screws where the key lock is. Move key and handle unit to the right..The top wire is the cable to release the trunk. Pull-on it. Don't do what I did and pull on the wire to the unit. (OOOPS)
Next, I had to remove the trunk liner and get at the unit freely. I thought maybe there is a cable adjustment no luck. Then I realized that the key and handle were stuck and did not move.
I worked on it moving the key unit and then adding WD 40.. It loosens right up with a little work and WD 40. Well, it worked my trunk now flies open..
I messed up by pulling on the wire instead of cable and came off. I guess the fob and door trunk opener would have worked. But not sure.. I am so happy.. I am fine using my fob key til I can find a new connector.
