My sunroof opens fully and smoothly however when I attempt to close it it stops about 4 inches from full closure and reverses back to fully open.
I have performed the 'Re-set' procedure in the handbook about a dozen times to no avail except the 'final' (?) step which involves temporarily removing the sunroof fuse from the main fuse box behind the cover at the end side of the dashboard. I understand that step is suggested whenever the battery has been disconnected/replaced and believe that my battery was replaced not long before I bought the car. Because I don't want to pull fuses if there is something I've missed in the standard re-set procedure any additional procedural advice would be appreciated.
Clean, lubricated, no restrictions: perform reset at least 3 times in succession no success. If this fails try summer opening/closing to see if it clears. Fails, worst case scenario motor gear may be wearing just enough to cause closing malfunction if this is the case gear is available separately (MB does not offer this) search ebay. Remove OCP to access.
Lastly, if gear/motor seems fine find an independent to clear/reset using Xentry (MB diagnostics).
