Hey all. Need advice on buying a W219 CLS550
Thinking about buying 2008 CLS550 tomorrow.2 owners. $11k. 100k miles.
I was stuck on getting the 4.7tt CLS550 only to realize I can't afford the payments. So starting smaller. Bang 4 buck wise, I love the 5.5 stats and a tune can easily get me over 400hp. Only thing is, I don't know much about the M273 or the that model CLS for that matter. Should I pass?

Unless you have a complete service history and or are handy with a wrench, I'd pass.
I love mine, just got it 3 months ago. An 07 with 75,500 miles on it. BUT despite having zero issues when I bought it, the lifetime dealer service history, being garage kept, we'll cared for and serviced all it's life, I've had to work on it most weekends.
So far, I've had to replace 4 cam position magnets, 1 cam position sensor, air ride suspension compressor, a $230 thermostat, oil cooler housing gasket, 2 idler pulleys, belt tensioner and serpentine belt, 8 spark plugs, 2 ignition coils, 2 oxygen sensors, 2 xenon light bulbs, fuel pump sending unit. That's just in 3 months and it's not like everything broke at once, basically something every week![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
I'm preparing for the rear air ride shocks to go out next.
The other big issue with these motors (depending on manufactur date) is the timing chain idler gear that are know to fail which requires engine removal. Idler gear info
I'd have it inspected first and if there are any check engine lights on, figure out what there are before hand.
