Cls500 4matic?
My intuition is that MB wants to maintain the pure driving dynamics of its coupes and roadsters by sticking with RWD. This may be especially true with the CLS given it has already strayed from the traditional interpretation of "coupe." However, maybe MB will someday adopt Porsche's and Audi's philosophy of offering AWD even on high-end performance models to improve all-around traction.
To some people is the feel of a RWD still preferable to the feel of even the most advanced performance AWD systems (such as the one in the Porsche 911 Carrera 4)?
We live in the Northeast and would love a CLS500 if we could somehow make use of the vehicle even during our 4-5 months of winter weather.
