C4 stopped connecting to laptop, Anyone?

C4 stopped connecting to laptop, Anyone?
Was connecting working well then just wouldnt one day. Laptop erthenet says unidentified ....... , no configuration, cable unplugged. Still set to dhcp so no fixed ip address in laptop.
C4 Wlan/Mac address is empty. Theres an option to delete configuration but then what.
If I put a fixed ip address in the laptop erthenet adaptor is that naming the laptop or the c4? Shouldnt the c4 have some kind of adress in it.?
Its a chinese clone with doip so no wireless I believe. Waiting for replies from a few people. I could crush it in a vice then I'll know why it doesnt work.

C4 plugs
Both the erthenet plug and the obd2 plugs didnt fit well, obd2 plug rocked backwards and forwards when rocked back towards driver it connected the main pins on that side. The ethernet plug was loose and hard to get out so I cut the rubber off the locking tab and packed out the bottom of the plug.
The car obd2 socket is worn aswell it needs replacing. So may not be the c4 always, it doesnt have batteries either has a large resistor or something instead. So with mine I ignore the low battery signal if the car is good and pepple who have had multiple goes at getting one going and were successful but not sure why -the plugs.
