Its amazing that in thailand they have these shows. i mean how many people there can really afford to buy a CLS and then out fit it with Brabus goods? HK is a MUCH bigger market than BKK, yet we get nothing when it comes to big auto shows.

You are right.

This is why the Brabus CLS is not displayed by MB Thailand. It is from the Thailand's top luxury car importor named SMC. As you know Thaland is growing well in economy, and they do have the richest people in the world. I am not surprised there are plenty of car companies want to rip them off

For general public in Thailand, you will not believe many of they already own the best Japanese cars in Asia which is just seconded to HK, SI and JP.

For imported European cars, for general pulic it is a different story because of terrible high 'luxury car tax". Luxury car there means any imported car with 2.5-3 litre up, the tax or dealer markup grow exponentially.

What you did not see from the photos are cars from the Mercedes Show Room. MB only displayed C200CDI , C180K Classic and C230K Elegant, E200.
Above are only models which rich upper mid class family can afford.
In Thailand, the tax of imported cars are already very high for their entry models. e.g. C230K costs USD 80K already.

Not to say any imported European cars with engines of 3.2 litre and above which are considered as 'super luxury car'. They will cost double the price in HK ! That means, I paid USD108K for my C55, then it will cost 200K in Thailand. I saw the price of a 325Ci convertible costs USD125K in Thailand!!
We can get a CLK55 AMG in HK for 135K.

It is good to see Thailand economy is coming back. A great country.

You know, shhhhtt me man , that was the first time I saw a CLS !
It is like a killer shark and not old looking at all !!! I am wet and I think I m gonna put CLS55 my dream car now. :p

Yes. in fact, I just learned that all imported cars are subject to ultra high tax and most based on engine capacity. anything above 2500cc are considered as big engines. I am yet to find out as if Thailand does make low end models of BMW saloon such as 318i , 325i even 330i, but not 325i cab or above.
I noticed big price differences from the BMW bronchure I got from the show.
There is a big gap of prices, so this is why only the very rich will buy large engine imported models.

Price of an M3 in Thailand is ~USD210K !!

Whitey you are right. We have no idea how rich some of the family business people there are.

May be Bangkok is too big a place to notice the super cars....
