SL-500 (mine), Ferrari Spider convertible (was Husbands, mine now!)
Can anyone explain what this is in more detail.
This was on the mbusa info sheet

"Storage behind motorized wood-trimmed door in dash."

Is this a pneumatic device or an electric motor????

its electric, like the e class. if u get the cd changer, i beleive it replaces the storage area. its the panel just below the nav system.

2004 ML350, 2000 C280 Sport
a six disc single feed cd changer replaces the storage. push the silver bar directly below the hazard button to open the door.

i was wondering if a CD changer was not ordered with the car can it be installed in this stowage compartment later on by the dealer? is it like a slot thing or do they have to open up the whole central console?

in the past, the cd changer has been a dealer installable option, but i am not 100% sure in this case...
