Hi all, had my CLS 450 for just over a year. I've had to have wheels straightened and one tire replaced already due to DC-area roads - 20" AMG 14 spoke black accents + Goodyear Eagle summer run flats. The front passenger tire is flat again after a hard bump on the highway. The ride is pretty rough anywhere the roads are rough here, including places I've driven other cars with mild bumps - manhole covers on 395 and 295 are the WORST! I'm looking for a few data points from others before I make a decision. I bought RoadVantage insurance so I can just keep replacing them or repairing them at no cost for years.
First, has anyone replaced the run flats with standard tires on the 20" rims? Same tire size as OEM or different? Did it make a big difference in ride or not much?
Second, as an alternative, has anyone downsized to the 19" rims and tires? Same questions - same size as OEM or different? Ride differences?
Finally, I've been shopping for OEM wheels or wheels and tires on E-bay, thinking about if I changed would I sell mine and buy the smaller ones? Just wheels (probably) and then new Continental ExtremeContact dws06s. Or should I find somewhere to trade wheels and/or tires?
I'm pretty much a buy stock and keep stock, but these are challenging, particularly since none of the local Mercedes dealers can get it in to fix the tire or wheel for a week!!!

Update: both front wheels are cracked and being replaced.

Hello,
I have the same wheels on my E-Coupe.
I installed the S-class tires and it provided significant comfort and protection.
Sizes are as follows:
245/40/20
275/35/20
Good luck

First I got the Michilen Pilot Sport 4 ZP (Run Flat) they were very good for runflats, but still harsh and noisy. After wearing out, I installed the Hankooks S1 Evo 3 Non-Run Flat, and they are perfect. Extremely comfortable, quiet, and stick to the road like glue.
