Mercedes-Benz Classic Center
Did any of you see Motor Week on PBS this morning? They toured a place near LA called the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, and it is an incredible place. I don't think the have a Website, but found some reference materials at

It was not really open when I visted the Irvine center last month, but was given a very nice brief tour of the facility by longtime MB parts guy (ex-Caliber Motors) Tom Hanson. The quad rotor Wankel C-111 is there, Jerry Seinfelds Renntech E60, 300SL convertible, 190SL, 600 limo, a Sauber C and many other classics.

When I visited the original Classic Center in Germany in July, they had--among other things--Fangio's Mille Miglia racer (#628--he started at 6:28, Moss started at 7:22), Juan Carlos of Spain's old 1920s limo in for complete retoration, a 600 from Dubai in for complete restoration plus installation of modern electronics, i.e. NAV, DVD, etc. Some prewar and postwar GP cars, LeMans racers from the 1990s, a rallye 450SLC, a 1920s Maybach, etc.
