I came to see what other forum members are saying: but they're not saying anything.

I don't even own a GTS yet (almost, 2 more weeks to go), but I don't like the new grill shape. When they inverted the trapezoid, I think it removed some of the sleekness. The original is wide on top, narrow on the bottom, accentuating the rakish profile of the car and hood. The new one moves too much of the "weight" downward, giving it a swollen lower lip look. Undecided on the vertical slats. At a minimum, they would have to be black.

Love the new front vents, but overall, I'm happy to be getting a 17. Kind of jealous of the ventilated seats though...

i have the 2016 GTS and i do wish i had the wider rear and little more HP

my opinion it is too many levels with not much differentiation

as for uniqueness someone paid 2x for a 2010 ferrari california with a manual transmission so who knows maybe the first gen AMG GTS with the grill will be worth more in the future lol

How is the wider rear implemented? Wider fenders, fender flares, different wheel offsets? I looked at pictures but can't really tell any difference from earlier models

total width increased is 2.5 inches so its 1.25 per side very hard to tell

you can see air vents carved into the rear bumper on the wider versions look again, the normal GTS and GT convertible don't have any vents in rear bumper

i also agree the front grill shape is better on the GTS but i do like the retro lines of the panamerica grill, wish someone would make an aftermarket part to simulate it for the GTS

how can this car get any wider. My 2017 barely fits in a lane when driving now.

So we are clear, the wider front and rear is only on the GTC, not on the GT or the GTS.

A bit odd they offer the GTC as it would seem between the GT/GTS/GTR there are enough variants.

I think the additional variants are reasonable given the addition of rear wheel steering in the higher performance versions. That is probably not a check-box type of option.

Same as 911. They want that market blanketed.

So it's only natural to want the latest version but a lot of guys here including me think that the original grill fits the lines of the car a little better and the new grill works better for me in the GTR not the GT.

If anything just use that notion to grind the dealer down on price

Exactly. I don't dislike the new grill and I don't dislike the look of the GTC generally but I prefer the old grill and I think the back of the 2017 GTS is more "pure", less fussy. For some reason I also think the panamerica grill works a little better on the GTR.

I should point out that my nearest dealer had a GTC in stock. I had a really good look at it, same colour as mine (Brilliant Blue) and I just prefer the look of mine. I'd like the extra power though You can never have enough power!

The old grill will always have that name attached to it, "the old", that's the problem with facelifts on a great car. This hurts resale values, just look at the Audi R8 pre-facelift and how many dealers are stuck with those models.

The only way to get rid of that stigma is if the AMG GT reaches a similar status of the SLS, which seems unlikely, not because of its performance, but the sheer number of cars manufactured.

Is it possible to get the Panamericana grill retrofitted on pre 18's???

Asked Fletcher Jones of Newport Beach but only way he could find out is if I gave him a VIN number on a GT with the new grill...
