Subwoofer

This is awesome. I went a little different route with mine. I have a 2016 GTS edition 1.
I added an SAS powered subwoofer (https://www.bazooka.com/bass-tubes/b...***-tubes.html).
The system is completely removable and sits just in front of the existing speaker in the right rear of the car, its not obtrusive to any of the storage space in the back and the sound dynamics and imaging are definitely better.
The crossover is adjustable and I've returned the Burmeister settings to flat and hvae good listening power - even with the windows open.
The bass is well distributed and confined to the inside of the car whether its Percussion Jazz, 1812 overture or G-easy..... Pink Floyd is also a fun listen now at speed.
Not only can you can hear it all, but there is no BOOM outside the car.

Its a relatively inexpensive option $<200 for the powered sub and about $150 for install.... I had a similar approach for my 6 series BMW.....

My issue is a bit different. Roadster vs coupe. Base Burmester in a GTC. Sub works in the enclosed trunk with no connection to the cabin, which isn't the worst thing for a sub but...

The low end with this setup actually isn't all bad and sounds decent in the cabin but it's embarrassing fo bystanders as the cars sounds like its falling apart on the outside. The felt rear passenger wheel liner vibrates and appears so loose that it continuously hits the rear bumper. It's fully fixed though.
Since the stock woofer fires into that cavity I expected that to solved better. Anyone having the same issues? Fixes?

I think I want this, DM me your information, please

I replaced mine with a Polk Audio MM840 single 4OHM voice coil. Removed the foam inside the factory enclosure and now it pounds better the factory subwoofer did.

I'd be very curious to know what this entire set up costs as well (Passenger side sub, enclosure, amp, etc.)

Other members replaced the front door speakers with focal and hertz. As I recall, these replacements didn’t result in as much of a difference as the sub/amp replacement. I also believe that the extra power added to the stock speakers front punch.

It’s a really small cabin as I hear it and I believe the only thing missing is some mid base.

Thanks for sharing the info. I asked for the reason of having high fidelity of the sound and not necessarily increase in overall volume. I don't think the current speakers are that good quality.

Yes.

Most aftermarket 6.5" component sets will fit in the factory locations. You can go 2way or 3way. Will need aftermarket amp(s) and JL Audio FIX82.

Did you just swap out the sub with no aftermarket amplifier?

Hey guys sorry for the late responses, this whole covid thing hasn't been easy for me. I hope everyone is safe and Ill get to answering as many of your post questions as I can.

This is a custom enclosure, that removes and replaces the factory subwoofer but also needs an aftermarket amplifier and audio adapter to integrate into the OEM amplified system. ( Kfactor and AMG 17GT)
@ JN66 yes I can sell you the template or I can send you the enclosure only. This enclosure is designed specifically for JL Audio 10Tw3 or / 5 subwoofers.

If anyone would like one made feel free to DM me for details. I do also offer Paypal and Paypal financing options to help stretch your cash flow. I will be offering this at a lower than retail price for MB World forum members.

Again I hope everyone is doing well. Check out my other posts as I also offer custom skid plates for the AMG GT platform using factory mounting points.

you must add an aftermarket amplifier. I used the JL Audio XD600/1v2 it is mounted directly behind the subwoofer in a custom made amp rack. That too is also available for sale.

Do you have any pictures? I want to do the same thing to my car after reading your comment. Looks like the least invasive solution. But I would feel way more comfortable ripping into my AMG if I had some pictures to go off of.
