Found the Spirax Fluid in liter bottles
Hi all. As an adendum to the lets talk about maintenace post I can add after considerable research I have found this Shell fluid in liter bottles. So in the USA I can get four liters sent to me for a bit over 100 dollars.
Thank you so much for posting all of this incredible info. When I started searching for info on how to do a basic oil change on my '16 GTS, I wasn't expecting to find much. Much appreciated!
I suppose I can start my introduction to this forum with a new thread. My name is Alex, as you can guess from my screen name. I live in North Dallas and am a tinkerer of cars. It has always interested me, when I get a new vehicle, to research the required/suggested maintenance. This was especially true for my new GT-S as it is my first Mercedes. I have extensive knowledge with General Motors vehicles being a GM World Class Technician and ASE Advanced level Master Technician (a past life) but I am aware that this is going to be a different animal. I figured if I was searching for these documents others may be as well. So to kick things off I will post the A/B service checklist and follow-up with procedures on how to maintain your beast
Do you have the procedure for front brake caliper removal? I'm looking for torque specs for the main caliper bolts and the procedure for torquing. Thanks
Wonderful information!!!
Thank you
Note part number for reservoir drain is 178 014 03 00
I replaced the drain plug because
It was $5 list at the Dallas dealer.
There is a small ridge in the base of the screw portion of the drain plug. The plug I removed showed significant damage to that ridge/lock. The new plug was perfect. I think that lock wears down with one usage. A $5 plug that retains the engine oil for a very expensive engine is a great return on investment. My original plug would probably have held, but why take a chance? I bought two from Park Place.
Great thread! I would love to see the process involved to replace the roof panel. Perhaps others would as well - e.g., to put in a carbon roof panel instead of glass or metal.
Do you know How to get this info? It is awesome and I would love to get it for my model 2019 AMG gt63c4.
Thanks,
John

awesome thread , thanks for all the great info, I am buying a 16 GTs next week ( 18.k miles ) Selenite / Black w/Alcantara and red trim ...sex on wheels!
had my oil changed in Jan and the car has smelled ever since of burning oil. It's in now getting checked. My suspicion is it's been overfilled as well because it didn't smell before the change and there's no evidence of an oil leak anywhere...
You can just siphon off the excess oil from the oil reservoir

Seems like the post has been deleted? Anyway, smell of burning oil is probably due to oil spilling on the engine during refill. It will just burn off in time, or you can clean the area.
Alex hello from quarantined Virginia
when i drained the transmission ATF compartment (hydraulic oil circuit)
only 4 liters came out the dealer under filled in last service.
shall i used the capacities to continue ? 7.7 L
and drain with trans at 140F engine running as indicated on procedure ?
please advise /thank you
That sounds pretty close to what I got when I did the service. You can't really overfill these things since part of the refill procedure is to actually overfill the reservoir and let the excess drain back out. You will need a long tube attached to your pumper to get up high enough in the fill port. There is a ~4" metal inner tube that you have to get above before you can pump fluid back into the transmission.
thank you Alex for your quick response !
i got a the adapter from the dealer and a pressurized vessel that fits it on the filler plug end.
i got every thing and and infrared thermometer to read transmission temperature near where the sending unit is (where star xentry will pick up the 60C needed )
is my understanding that next, in FIRST GEAR, when 140F or 60 C is reached you remove adapter and let it spill till very little comes out ?
and done?
thanks again
hello Alex. using this scanner i was able to do the last step on trans lube system fill .
got the car trans temp at 60 C +- 5
while running the car on neutral opened drain till very little oil came out
calculating what i put in plus what came out , oil left inside 5 3/4 liters. ( I got only 4 liters out when i drained , max capacity is 7.8 liters ?)
just wanted your opinion on it !!
thank you

I would probably call it good and not worry about trying to flush the whole system. The only way you are going to get every bit out is to tear down the transmission and that is just not feasible. If you are concerned with fluid quality maybe run it for a few hundred miles and then drain it again.
Totally agree with you , i used RAVENOL DCT-F3
Dealer only sells 5 galons of the MB 236.25 for $720.00
trans is running a lot cooler now.
will change it again after a 1000 miles have oils analyzed by lab and move on /
thank you for the advise Alex .
got a clone computer with stage II from eurocharged in Houston quite impressive gains

Changed my trans fluids and found a trick for the bottom fill part.
Hi all. I recently changed both trans fluids on my GTC. With ONE of the two fluid fills you do the filling from the bottom of the transmission that calls for adapter in order to fill. I ended up making my own adapter which you can see in the picture. It is basically a rubber washer or test tube plug. It is 20MM outside diameter and 9mm inside diameter for the fill tube to pass through it. You simply insert the fill tube into fill port and the rubber stopper also goes into the hole so you can fill the trans without it running back out.
