Question Race mode

Comments on race mode versus sports plus, particularly along the lines of traction control or any safety features? Is it too much of a handful?

have you even driven in race mode? it holds the revs almost to redline in every gear. not practical at all unless you are on a track.

are you asking for a track day?

Driving aggressively in sport mode does the same thing here. Sometimes I have to switch to sport to allow trans to come off of a high RPM gear.

If you half to ask the question the answer is yes, it's probably going to be too much of a handful for you. As other stated the main thing it does is raise shift points. Race mode does not completely turn of TC or stability but it does put more emphasis on the driver ability, it will allow you to get the azz end looser than normal. That being said you absolutely can loop the car in race mode, so be careful.

Jr – so sounds like if one is not used to getting very loose, it's better to start out in sports plus and graduate up to race mode.
Couldn't you run in race mode but turn the traction control back on (I believe there's even a dedicated button for this on the center console)?

I believe that it it is not the C/S/S+ mode that allow slippage but the traction button. I have played enough with traction settings that the first level (one press) allows you to moderately go sideways and as long as you control slide it will not intervene. The second level (press and hold for a few seconds) will let you do get out of control and do a 360.

One press from Sport+ = Sport Handling Mode.

So, Sport+ does not default to this.
