Talking Why Does it Make Me Do This

There's been a very noticeable change in my driving style, since getting the GT.

Pops, bangs, wheel-spin..... just clowning at every possible opportunity.

Probably the harshest break-in I've ever conducted (once up to temps though), pretty much just down to the pure fun and grin factor

Its a Merc for goodness sake, it shouldn't make me behave like that. Surely

Love these holidays in USA. 2/3 less cars in the way, as I was acting like a complete hooligan this morning cannon shots here

Car keeps getting smoother engine and suspension.

Driver Seat ping getting worse. Will bring in this week.

I had the exact same impression when I drove it for the first time. I asked myself "Since when does Mercedes make fun cars and why wasn't I told anything about it??". This car is a joy to drive.

Agreed. I want to behave badly.

It's a genuine problem indeed.

I've had several AMG's but this is my first genuine Sports Car. I've always gone to the track because I figure I need to release the beast legally... and besides I drive the only one in my neighborhood and everyone knows the car so it's kind of difficult driving like a hooligan but that doesn't mean it doesn't pop and bang all over the neighborhood when I gear down 😎😎😎. First thing I do is put it in S+ as soon as she's started. I loved all my previous AMG's. I'm IN LOVE with this thing,..

Totally agree with OP. Every time I sit in it, it feels like piloting a fighter jet.

So funny.

For months I've been coming home after driving, saying "someone is going to get into trouble driving that thing!" Or "that car is a bit scary, really".

I told my GF about this thread and she laughed, thinking I was the one who instigated it.

Thumbs up

LOL - good to see I'm not the only one, as I had started to worry

.... ooh the spoiler just flipped up as I overtook those cars ...... lets see how late I can brake for the next turn off to make even more bangs ...... how quick can I vanish down the road.

But my personal favourite, how far away from home, before they hear me coming

LOL! I live in the historic district of a small conservative town (loaded with silent electric cars) and my driveway is at the base of a 1/4-mile, barely two-lane winding hill. Pops and farts. No prisoners, no need to call ahead. Daddy's home!

Honestly, if the car didn't sound this good, it might not be this good. AMG truly targeted the 'bad boy' market with this puppy. Very non-PC.

When I was at an AMG Driving School I was told that AMG had 6 or 7 audio engineers just working on the wonderful sounds they make!

Not surprised. Quite an evolution in design priority from the original muscle car era, eh? It's like they smugly gave the middle finger to 'stealth' Tesla. Nice too that it's a signature and not aftermarket.

LOL!!! This has turned into a pretty good "feel good driving the GT" thread

Bank holiday weekend in Europe for most, so will get some driving in ....... can't promise to be anything other than a hooligan, but I now have comfort in knowing I'm not alone

There's something sublimely unexpected about how it shaves decades off my life. It brings back the ear-to-ear grins I cherished as a kid when I would engage the ignition of my '69 Old's 442 just to listen to the melodic, bodacious lumbering cam-note of it's 455-cid fed dual exhaust.

For decades later, as I wore ties and aged through a plethora of more sophisticated (typically German) cars that emphasized suspension' engineering, I've often tried to verbally mimic that original 'gearhead' sound to a lifetime of tone deaf significant other's. "You're such a kid" was about the most insightful response I'd receive to sharing this deepest of passions. It was lonely to be a 'car guy' when real children needed a diaper change.

Forty years later, enter the unapologetic, 'Revenge of the Gearhead' GTS. Best of both worlds. It's brought me full circle. One stomp or pop is worth a thousand words. Juvenile grin returned. Yes, I'm 'just a kid', thank you very much.

I FN love this car.

I couldn't agree more... I'm stoked for my Edition 50 mostly because it will have ventilated seats and not be black. I've never washed a car more in my life 😂😂😂

Ya I can't believe how cool this car sounds. I had PSE on my 997.1 4s 6 speed and thought that was awesome.

Edition 1 wing

yes it is but then you have to put something in its place and it gets a bit complicated and costly...
