How does it stack up to the competition?
The AMG GTR is a mere 38 milliseconds! slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder at 1.06,320
minutes, ranking the car 2nd on the leaderboard.
Interesting, but what really is the "competition", as the 918 is a bit random?
GT3 RS, Huracan Performante? ......the later of which holds the record as the fastest standard production car at the ring
What I am finding fascinating is how diverse the range has become. One mans GT is anothers track weapon

True.
The stock GT3RS (991) shows at 1.08,50 while a modified version beat both the 918 and the GTR at 1.05,80 (Manthey-Porsche 911 GT3 RS)
Not sure about the Performante, but the Huracan LP610-4 shows as 1.07,50
What I like is that the modified GT3RS run was by the same mag (sport auto) and the same driver (Christian Gebhardt) as the AMG GTR Nurburgring and Hockenheim runs, so it provides a pretty unbiased feedback.
Here is the latest I received today from my MB representative in south Florida. " Just called distribution. They are waiting certification. They now say it is hopeful for end of month. The person I speak to at distribution says she gets 30 calls a day on the GTR...."
Oh you sour pu$$, how are you enjoying your base AMG GT. Who buys base AMG GT nowadays? When are you getting an AMG GT-R, the real TOYZ 4 DA BIG BOYZ ? Whenever you can upgrade from base GT to GT-R, by then I will give you more props.
By the way please do not post erroneous and unsubstantiated lap times, it makes you look like a real tool.

Hey Jswan ? Despite delays, how do you feel about your car being called a "toy".
Hello there Swan. Nothing wrong with being forthright and honest correct? I am glad your dealer is updating you with your GT-R status. Sounds like a nice toy to have. Hoping you will enjoy and be trouble free with your new toy compared to your horrendous GT-S Edition-1. The wait is just atrocious to say the least huh?

The Porsche guys are optimistic but that's because Porsche corporate is communicating with them frequently as well as the dealers.
So far they are getting free service maintenance for 2 years and some $$$$.
All it took was a few engine fires that they tried to hide for them to realize they should just tell the truth.
Porsche Taycan, Range Rover AB, Range Rover SVR, S Class, Mclaren 570s, Urus Hybrid (soon), M3, RS6

They're not rumours, seems like all new Porsche/Mercedes vehicles are waiting for EPA Certification, there's some other threads on rennlist regarding the same thing too. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9985...eliveries.html

Great info Urbusted, and appropriate post on all manufacturers getting busted on certification.
Unlike Florence, who is on his couch with bunny slippers sipping Vin Santo.
From my research there were a handful of delays like two to three weeks, but nothing like what is happening with GT-R being held, some since April this year. If you want one, there is well known AMG member who is selling his car held at the VPC since April. I can give you his contact information if you are a serious GT-R buyer? How is your base AMG-GT doing?
