2018 GTR latest on US Deliveries

. BTW to location i'm talking about is the port at long beach

Maybe they do put the gtr inside at that location, but what's the big secret about it lol. Respect for a good source, like this is confidential information.

Put a date on that ....
Is your friend willing to confirm that MB is waiting for a EPA signoff or is it something else.
I am near positive that it's the EPA.

My thinking is that this the reason for the prolonged delay.
Further, it is extremely unlikely at this point that we will see this end by 8/31.
September may be at risk as well.
Tesla is looking better and better......

They are also listed in the latest CARB Report.
https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad..._4d0_u3-70.pdf
We just may be getting closer.
FWIW: Certified 2018 Porsches are starting to be delivered in early September.
The latest epa.gov info as of 8/17
Annual Certification Data for Vehicles and Engines
Overview
The Annual Certification Test Results Report (often referred to as Federal Register Test Results Report) includes light-duty vehicle and heavy-duty engine reports for model years 1979 through 1994 and light-duty only data for later model years. Heavy-duty engine data for 1995 and 1996 is also available. The report contains certification levels (projected emission levels at the end of the useful life miles of a vehicle) and deterioration factors used to compute the certification levels.
The formatted report is not available for 1999 and later model years. The list of Certified Vehicle Models can be used in conjunction with the Certified Vehicle Test Result Report Data file by matching the Engine Family/Test Group and Evaporative Family combinations for a given vehicle model with the test results for that same combination in each file. The vehicle model name appearing in the Certified Vehicle Test Result Report Data does not necessarily represent the actual vehicle that was tested.

Reality is we are arguing over points that are not going to change anything. We don't have our cars and we haven't exactly been making payments on them either. Would it be nice for MBUSA to offer us first dibs on the GT-BS (lol!), of course, but I certainly don't feel like they owe me anything. I watched some video this morning of the guy who went on a 40 minute YouTube rant because he was somehow released a 2018 C63 S that had not been emissions certified and MB wants the car back temporarily. Really spoiled my day how we've come to this point that we feel so entitled that we lose focus on what's important. Really made me sick.
My car has been sitting in Long Beach since July 6 and I won't get to drive it up to Pebble Beach in 2 weeks. I think I'm going to go record a YouTube video now...

I understand your frustration.
FWIW: MY car has been sitting in the Brunswick, GA VPC since April 8th so any grain of good news is appreciated.
What I hope to receive is my car before the model years change to the 2019's.
What you may find interesting is that Porsche sent everybody who had a car delayed a nice letter explaining what was going on and a estimate as to when they could expect their cars.
They are also working on some concessions. Free service and some money as well.
Best regards
I, for one will just ignore your posts and continue to discuss my concerns with the others.

M

You are right about one thing "you've got nothing." Because these cars continue to sit.
BTW does BMW still make cars? I haven't seen anything from them for years.
I hear ya, but MB said this car was due in the fall so why you guys inserted yourselves in the import process back in April is beyond me. This is a normal thing with all car makers, esp after the VW debacle.
Some think MB owes them restitution!!! That is the most absurd thing like ever. Cars go on sale when they say they go on sale lol.

It's like sitting inside a plane for hours without the pilot or anyone telling the passengers what the hold up is. Yes the pilot can't do anything if there's weather at the destination but there isn't anyone, including those who defend MB in this thread, that wouldn't prefer to be kept informed as to why they haven't taken off after an hour of sitting there.
I don't expect any compensation from MB, if the wait is too long or I feel the car has been compromised because it sat baking on a dock for several months I just will not buy it.
Regrettably I have a question that's actually on topic ...
Does anyone know what the storage conditions are at the VPC? Is it really as simple and unfortunate as the cars got unloaded from the ship and have been sitting at the dock since then? Any chance someone would have the common sense to put covers on cars that can msrp at up to $200k? Is there any indoor storage space that maybe they would have put them in?
Do you honestly believe that because Porsche told dealers and they told customers about a hold up with their cars, makes Porsche more desirable? Seriously I'm really just asking. Who says that a Porsche is most desirable car in the world lol?
Do you really think Mercedes is going to sell you a car, especially a 100K plus car that has been damaged from sitting somewhere too long? Do you think they're new at importing cars? You're just not thinking clearly here. They've been importing cars for years and years and this isn't the first time they've stocked cars at the ports. These GTRs will be delivered just like all other Benzes. I don't understand any of this when no one has any proof of a problem or that cars are rotting in the sun, which is totally illogical.

When my ordered CLS63 arrived at the dealership a chunk of metal under the paint was discovered.
No the factory didn't find it.
No the VPC didn't find it.
The truck driver found it when unloading the car lol.
Almost the entire driver side of the vehicle had to be re-painted.
You give these people way too much credit. They don't care. This obvious defect should have NEVER made it to the dealer, but it did.

No one is perfect. Question is do you think this happens regularly?
The only car that will be 100% perfect from delivery will be a Rolls-Royce or possibly a Bentley. All others are subject to defects.
My point is here that MBUSA isn't going to just deliver all these cars that have been so called sitting at the port without a through inspection.

I have several similar stories to my aforementioned post, but I'm not going to write a book. This issue was blatantly obvious. It took me all of five seconds to find it when I looked at the car.
I'd love to hear your definition of "through inspection."

Here are a few things I know for sure:
1. Whomever mentioned the GTR and E63's being stored indoors, is correct. I too was told to stay hush.
2. There are currently 4 GTR's already in Canada, one of which was already trailered to Renntech for testing and tuning. The rest of us were delayed.
3. I was the 3rd person in Canada to order one, LONG ago. So I'm a bit pissed that I didn't get one of the first 3, however I suspect its because of issues with the RXB rim, and rear carbon brace.
4. I have friends whom are waiting for new Porsches, that have been sitting at the Halifax port for over 2 months awaiting EPA certification. They were finally released yesterday, and are on route to Toronto (4 cars I personally know of)
5. I'm tired of waiting honestly. I need a car. My Demon is due in the next week or so, but I expect at least a week or two delay. It will be the first of the 300 allocated to the Canadian market.
6. I was told my GTR is due to be built first week of September, and be delivered for first week of October. Not really happy about this, but what can I do.
Going back to #4, I have to say, I cannot believe how well Porsche communicates with their customers about their cars. Emails answered quickly, informatively, and with a desire to please. I cannot even get one email answered from anybody over at MB, even my sales guy is ignoring me, and I'm not even annoying! Needless to say, I would still never buy a Porsche
