Carpet missing?

Looking for some help here guys. I've had my 2016 GTS Ed 1 for a week now and gave it my clean today. When I removed the passenger side mat, I noticed that the upper part of the carpet is not there. Is this meant to be the case? Could you check and let me know please. I am thinking this may be something that is removed for service and has not been replaced. It's a 2016 with 5000 miles and has had it's A and B service. Many thanks.

I cleaned my passenger side carpet the other day... Just bare metal and some dense black polystyrene behind it.. I think it is normal although unusual
