GTR wait time

So I ordered a GTR in november (france delivery) and just got my production date
may 2019!!! For mid summer delivery 😳
didnt think i would by waiting 18 months for a car
If you order in france in feburary delivery is christmas 19

delays are still this long in other countries?

on the plus side maybe means the GTRs will be rare and the residauls will hold a bit better
although after an 18 month wait i will drive the crap out of it 👍

one more open question:
in france i negotiated a 3-4% discount
seems in the US you pay over list
i work in th car indusrty and paying over list sounds crazy
this is normal for Americans?

I didn’t but it’s an emotional experience for some.

It is just a question of supply and demand. If there is little supply and much demand the price goes up. Simple. For some, paying an extra 10-20 thousand or more is nothing. And the dealer knows that if one person won't pay over list, there is someone else who will - someone with more money to spend. In some areas of the country paying extra for a highly desirable rare car is common. And in other areas of the country it isn't. It's also seasonal.

As poster mentioned above, it's about supply and demand. Certain models command an Adjusted Dealer Markup. Many of us also own Porsche GT cars. The new GT3 is going for $10-25K over MSRP in certain areas of the country like the Bay Area or Southern California. The new GT2 RS is asking for $100K or more over MSRP. This is because the models are new and there is lots of hype. Perhaps over time, the demand will die down and prices will normalize.

Remember MSRP stands for "suggested retail price."

Some of us also own Ferraris. Ferrari makes it a practice of selling at MSRP. However, there are other ways of getting a premium. If you are new to the brand and want an in demand model like an 812 for example, you will have to buy a not in demand model like a California or FF to get on the list for the 812. This was more common in the past, but as Ferrari is now a publicly traded company they have increased production and a new owner can get a 488 for example without having to buy a less in demand car. However, exclusive versions like the new 488 GTO/VS will probably only go to the top clients who buy the most Ferraris.

Interestingly, lightly used relatively new in demand Ferrari models can command an ADM and often cost more than the MSRP of a brand-new model.

That just means your Dealer had an allocation in production that you were able to slide into. When i ordered my GTS, i waited months to get an allocation. Then i had to wait for my build. Placed an order in June; took delivery in January . 7 months for a GTS; the wait is longer for a GTR.

That's why you have to find a dealer with an allocation. To me if you place an order with a dealer that doesn't have an allocation then the wait time is not entirely accurate. There are so many things at play as to which dealer gets an allocation. There are many dealers who get multiple allocations and then there are others who don't get any.

on one hand you are correct. And yes finding an existing allocation is helpful. My response was in terms of production. At the time of the order none of the options were locked yet but I didn’t have much time before the window for some of the option would have closed.
