Hey guys great read and thought I’d throw myself in. I ordered my GTR January’18 for production April. I ordered a special colour so they did pre warn me that the delay may be upto 10 weeks which meant it was at latest June. Come June they kept delaying it weekly until it reached July and I was fed up without explaination. I threatened to cancel the order (which I could within their terms and conditions) and they started to really panic because of the colour I ordered. They said the arrival date has now gone back to 4th September (which worries me because everyone’s seem to be that date) and they provided me with a new 2018 GTS until it arrives. I’ve enjoyed this car for the past 6 weeks but I do fear they are in a real mess in that factory
I ordered the extra option AMG performance forged alloy wheels and was going to de matte them and make them high gloss black instead,including the silver rim too. Basically so it stands out and you get the whole matte black / gloss black theme going on. I did it on my Lamborghini and it came out nice rather than too “Batmobile”

that could work. Car had the matte black and silver looked underwhelming.
UPDATE: Hi all! My 2019 GTR unexpectedly arrived at the VPC Brunswick Georgia today. They were telling me late October/ November..... Must have been a July build. Crazy awesome!!!

I ordered a GTR in late March from a small but reputable dealer in NE Ohio, putting down a substantial deposit. Because of the timing, this would be a 2019, initially expected to go into production in July. I've been uncharacteristically patient about the order, but the dealer has provided no information on the order now for six freakin' months! I ask and I'm told that there's no info. They contact their rep and get nothing. Is it possible that MB is not making allocations to the US market because of the unknowns related to the tariffs? Yet I see in this forum that '19 GTRs are arriving...I don't get it.
Sure, Europe goes on holiday for most of August, but no information at all seems wrong to me. Can anyone suggest what algorithm is used to assign allocations to dealers? Thanks a heap.
Here's how it works. First you go to the Dealer and tell him you want one. Of course he says - yes. Then he fills out a request form like you see below and you give a deposit. At that point, all you have is a piece of paper that says you want one. He now has to go to the AMG Rep. and show (request form) that he has a customer who wants one. Doesn't mean it necessarily happens. There's a lot that goes on behind the process/scenes I'm sure. Once he is successful in getting an order locked. You will now pull up in the system and have PO/Order number assigned to you. See the second pic. That means you are locked in and have a build slot. As time progresses and your car goes into production. You'll later see a VIN number now on the sheet with the PO/Order number you're assigned. See pic number three. That's how it worked for me and I'm pretty sure it's basically the same for everyone else. He may not be telling you because, he's still trying to get you a build slot. If he can't produce a PO/Order number like in pic 2. Then you really don't have anything yet at this point in my opinion. I suspect if he did have it he would let you know.
Hey benzbell...thanks! I'm calling the dealer again now to see what I can shake loose. I don't even have a request number so far, just a sales agreement. I got him to agree to a 3% annual interest rate on my deposit, tho...so the longer this takes, the more I get credited. I'd gladly forego the interest for the car!
Anyone know how Mercedes makes allocations to dealers? First-in, first-out? Dealer size/volume?
If you don’t have any solid info yet (P.O. number, order number, etc) that’s because they don’t have an allocation.....yet. So you have no car......yet, possibly forever with this dealer.
Dealers get based on many factors:volume, location, awards, best of the best recognized, etc.
wishing you the best, but even them calling the region rep saying they have a deposit from a potential buyer, means ZERO.
Find out when the allocation “waves” get released out, and only go to a dealer that has one in system if you want to be sure you’re getting a car.
