Front Windshield Replacement
First off, don’t use any source except Benz as my understanding is that other installers don’t use MB gasket kit and other associated parts such as a rear view mirror bracket. This bracket can be reused, but order the bracket along with windshield, as I waited one week for bracket alone and this insures rearview mirror sits flat on glass.
Retail cost was $2247 including all parts, but was included in my Chubb auto policy.
As as others have commented, this glass is soft and accumulates a lot of “stars” with mileage, in my case I have 10k on car. Result was car feels like new again. Hope this info helps future claims.

I agree with Bish’s recommendation. Get some windshield protection. Either CLEARPLEX or maybe the newly announced XPEL product. As I understand the cost is around $500 for either one. Even if insurance covers most or all of the windshield replacement, the inconvenience is not worth it.
As with a PPF install, a experienced installer with a good reputation is paramount.
Best Regards.

Bish would be the best source for first hand experience with Clearplex. He is a long term user.
Also, if your wiper blades are changed regularly (once a year) you shouldn’t have any issues....with the Clearplex or your factory windshield glass.

2: Make sure that it has started raining or you’re using the windshield washer when the wipers are on. This will markedly reduce the chances of damaging the film.
Truth is it’s pretty hardy stuff, and mine still looks great after one year. Granted only 3,500 miles but at least 50% of those were track miles, and the track can really give an unprotected windscreen a pounding. I consider the product to be annually replaceable as it does show wear over time, but that is the type of damage that would be impacting your expensive MB windscreen normally. That being said, I’m keeping mine on for at least through the track season 2019.
Re: PPF installers. Many of them hate to install Clearplex as it is difficult to work with and is time consuming. Hence the many negatives you hear about it. But find someone who has experience with it, and I think most people would be happy with it but as Jerry stated the installer is everything. I pay around $350 including labour here in the Kansas City area.

i then got Clearplex applied to it at FPS (film protective solutions) in Santa Ana Orange county. They do the best job, basically its like an iphone protective screen but for your front window and costs $400-500 and lasts for a year or two if car is garaged and a month or two if you track your car. FPS leave only a couple milimeters of exposed glass all around. I have seen other clearplex dealers leave up to an inch all around of exposed glass. Look around and research not all dealers offer same service
i also had my Amg gts clear wrapped with them
