Ride control

New to forum. Question: is AMG Ride Control the same as MBC in S Class and ABC in SL? I'm speaking in the comfort mode, i.e., does Ride Control soften the ride?

Yes, but don't expect a soft ride

Actually no. MBC/ABC is a fully active hydraulic suspension. AMG GT's ride on springs. AMG ride control gets you adjustable dampers which feature 3 different modes. Your SL would have two modes (Comfort, Sport). The AMG GT will ride harder in Comfort than the SL in Sport. The ride will be a bit firmer yet if you have a car with Dynamic Plus which tightens the suspension settings a bit more.

THAT answers my question. Thanks, I was looking for AMG styling with some element of comfort. Apparently, I'm 'in the wrong pew'. LOL

Go and test drive one.
I came from a 2014 SL550 and its not a major difference, Seats are much less plush though. Not had any complaints from my wife either.

Yeah, IMO it’s more seats than ride, although it is stiffer.

Crucial to make sure tire pressure is around 35-36 psi hot.

Exactly. Nothing better than trying it out personally. Also, the GT model is a touch softer than the GTC. Not sure what model you had in mind.

Rent each for a day. Don’t settle for the five minute test drive either.
