Bluetooth issue

Bluetooth issue
Hey Guys.
Had the car about 14 months now, and never had an issue like this: my bluetooth was working perfectly, usually streamed straight from spotify perfectly.
Recently was streaming normally and it just stopped. I was about to get home so didnt care about it.
Since then, this is the bizarre behaviour Im getting (everytime):
1. Turn on COMMAND, able to sync it perfectly with my phone.
2. Turn on spotify on my phone, start to play something in it
3. COMMAND shows "Track 1" with a bar indicating the length of the song
4. Before any sound is played, COMMAND goes back to "Bluetooth device is paused"
5. My phone still has the song in play mode and the seconds are counting - of course no sound is played from my phone, everything is still synced.
This is going on for weeks, I've tried several shenanigans on the phone and COMMAND, including unpair the device and pairing it again, no change in the situation.
Any insight would be extremely useful - its a 2016 AMG GT.

Before checking the car, try reinstalling Spotify, or if you had an update to your phone recently , you may have to dump the cache in the app.
