New Era?

So with analogue gages gone, does this mark a new era in MB's history?

Such a strange thing to say repeatedly. This isn’t a collectors car - nor would a dash and the difference if it were. You say speak like you are Nostradamus and it is a fact.

the GT, GTS, GTC and R are far to common. Hell, I remember when people were talking about the Gallardo being special. Thing is the furthest thing from collectors car.

Rarity typically dictates whether or not a car would be of any interest years down the road.

The things car guys make up to justify their purchases are incredible. The mustang gt350/r Shelby forums are littered with the same irrational emotional nonsense.

Not sure why I expected differently here.

Wow, you have no clue what you’re talking about. “Far too common”? Completely false. There are considerably more Porsche GT3s sold than AMG GTs.

“Not a collector car” - you can do what you want with yours but most will disagree.

The pre-facelift GT R I almost bought had a terrible outdated dashboard including old style steering wheel with different layout of buttons and a stupid Start-Stop turning itself on in Comfort (during one drive) driving me crazy so I passed on it, now waiting for a facelift.

There's nothing desirable on analog gauges, no matter how romantic you think it might be.

Correct. More Porsche GT3 - most of which sell for ADMs and waitlists out the door. The demand on this car is incredible. The demand for the AMG GT line isn't remotely close. Except the Black Series.

And just because Porsche has managed to create such a sought after car like the GT3 and produce it in such high volume doesn't mean anything to our cars. Porsche has had an aura for decades. AMG GT has not. Porsche is a common house hold name. 911 as well. AMG GT S/C/R is not.

Only person I have seen that claims that their car is going to be a collectors car is you. It is a hilarious notion. Maybe, similar to the 60's mustangs, it can be a collectors car in 20/30/40 years? 50 years? I suppose time has a way of making every car a collectors car as it diminishes supply.

I love our cars - but that love sure as **** isn't going to cause delusion. And the idea that our cars won't be collectors cars shouldn't diminish the love or excitement anyone has for them. Beautiful cars. Just, imo, will not be a sought after collectors car.

Anyway, we can agree to disagree.

The dash....the dash will make it a collectors car. Hahaha.

It you dislike auto start stop, it’s only getting worse, not better!

Not true. The newer version has a shut-off delay: 5s city, 30s highway. The immediate shut-off on stop is what decreases engine life.

Wrong. There is no difference to engine life with auto start stop. There are no stats that say otherwise.
It’s easy to disable the auto start/stop. Not sure what your issue is.

I hate shutting off a hot running engine
A) There's no point doing it, you save nothing
B) There are issues with lubrication, ask any (clever) car mechanic, especially the M177 can have problems, the "hot V" is called hot for a reason
I know it's easy to disable this feature via OBD.

For me is easier to buy an improved version of the same car that includes smarter start/stop and doesn't include an archaic dash cluster

The 30s hwy delay has been implemented for a reason, don't you think?
My main issue is that I like cars and hate bad / outdated engineering.
