disctronic plus
If anyone is able to give me an answer in plain English I would be thankful.
The question I have is about the distronic plus and or collision avoidance, my 2018 GT roadster has distronic plus and I know how that works and like it but I can't get a straight answer as to whether the car has a crash avoidance system or not? I hear things about the car applying 40% braking or maybe increasing braking if I am infact braking but no straight answer.
On occasion when coming up fast to a car in front that is braking I get a beep and a red warning triangle in my dash but that is all and I wondered if left longer the car would brake for me? Under normal situations I would put a system to the test, (ABS, traction control etc.) but for reasons I'm sure you understand I wont check this system out to see if it works or not.
Thanks for any answers, FYI, I am a mechanical engineer so can understand things if given the facts.

- Radar-based distance warning.
- Situation-specific brake boosting effect.
- Autonomous partial braking.

If you would also like to test the system it’s easy. Find a large piece cardboard, say at least 5 foot by 3 foot from an appliance or big screen tv box. Suspend so it stays upright as if it’s another vehicle and go for it to see how the car reacts. This would have to be done on a closed course. Obviously exercising all precautionary and safety measures when attempting something like this.

If you are getting the warning triangle in the dash display, then it’s working. I don’t think you need to test the braking portion of the feature. BTW, this feature is not part of the Distronic option, at least in Canada, all GTs have this autonomous braking feature.
