Only thing I don't see and wasn't a deal breaker for me but now I have it I use it a lot is Disctronic adaptive cruise control and the warnings in the mirrors for people in your blind spots.
In Canada, blind spot monitoring (and pre-safe braking) were standard on the AMG GT S. Is that not the case in the US version?

Seems no, my blind spot monitoring and lane tracking package cost $875 but I have a roadster so they might have been std on the S?

Well you’re showing a photo of a GTC on the right - totally different GT than the GTS. So not a fair comparison. It’s wider, for one thing.

Oh it totally is! I compared both systems - the “standard” Burmester is OK, but not great. The High End is vastly different, not even close. It doesn’t matter what you listen to - even on heavily compressed tracks the HE is far better. And it’s not about the watts, it’s the quality of the speakers. You also get the nice metal grill covers.

If you have the choice, spend the $4500, it’s so worth it.

I have the standard base Burmester in my car, and as you say it’s OK but nothing that special. However, I can only really hear the subtleties of the sound when stopped or at low speeds, since the car has a lot of road and tire noise, in addition to the sports exhaust being loud. The road noise makes it impossible for me to hear the subtleties of music, so for me fancier speakers would be of little use.

I have rather worn out Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on mine currently. I’m hoping it’ll get quieter with new Pilot Sport 4S tires.

You're right - it's only really useful if you are stopped at a light or cruising on the highway on a long drive. BTW, the Michelin PS 4S are considerably quieter than the non 4S, and much quieter than Continentals.

This. Worth the upgrade in tires, and I also would not being able to hear a difference in stereo quality unless jamming out in a parking lot with the vehicle off.

i know the s class version is much better, I was in my brother's s class coupe today.

Lol dude thinks the gtc 3d burmeister is the Pinnacle of car audio... It's not even that great.

Audio is designed/engineered by Burmester based on parameters of the vehicle. Acoustics, speaker placement relative to location availability and that sort of thing. I'm sure the S-Class has a more powerful amp and a lot more speakers because of the size of the vehicle.

I have an s550 cab with 3D surround high end blah Burmester and it’s pretty mind blowing

I have the Burmester surround in my gtr and had the high end in gts and yea it’s not in same league as the 3D of a class

only car to come close to s was the jbl high end in my gtc4lusso

ive had naim, meridian hi fi and to me they were disappointing.

burmester to my ears regardless of high end or surround only are best in the business for me

dor a small coupe however the amg sounds amazing without way more speakers and watts!!

but price aside (it’s overpriced) it sounds much better than the standard Burmester...

I agree with you except the watts are meaningless in most cases with audio. You’re never going to use 1000 watts in a car. The reason why the S class has 1.5X is because it has more speakers. It has more than 2X the speakers. They just add up the watts, so that’s why it’s higher.
It’s actually better to have more power per speaker, so the GT High End has the better spec in this regard.

As far as cost, $4500 is nothing in audio. I have one cable that cost more in my home system. Burmester’s home units cost $50K and up for a complete system. I don’t know if they’re any good, they’re not that well known; but you can easily spend more than the cost of a new GTR on a stereo system from Burmester. So $4500 is not much for the best system they can put into a car.

The system in the GT is only “designed” by burmester. No comparison to the home quality. If you took the $5000 and buy quality aftermarket car components there would be no comparison. The problem I have is that the cockpit is so small it seems futile and I would rather listen to the exhaust( with mufflers ).

I see, makes sense.
The 3D processing does work and it makes the soundstage sound impressively wide, and not “processed”. My main system is just 2 channel and cost more than a GTR, and I’m impressed by the High End system in the GT.
That said, yes, I’ll take the engine sound over the music any day.

Im not even talking watts or any specs for that matter...the 3D in the S class just sounds more clear and more crisp...really isn't a comparison.
