Anyone Upgrade The Factory Subwoofer/Amp While Keeping The Stock Enclosure?

I am looking to upgrade the subwoofer in my car, it has the standard Burmester (Non High End)

I am contemplating 2 different options and wanted to see if anyone has done option 1-

Option 1- Upgrade the sub/amp with a higher wattage solution while keeping the factory enclosure.
Option 2- Upgrade the sub/amp/enclosure similar to what others have done with a 10" sub in a custom enclosure.

The factory system from what I have read has a 240W amp, I was hoping that upgrading to a 400W amp/speaker would yield me some noticeable results without having to go the full custom route and sacrifice some trunk space (I actually use my car to do every day things so trunk space is crucial). Option 2 will obviously give me the best results, but i'm not looking for some crazy blow out your ears bass, just something that matches the rest of the system and doesn't fart out like the stock one does.

These are the products I was considering-

Does anyone have any thoughts/personal experience in this area?
