Future of the GT

So below are pics of the new S class. Not wild about the exterior, but I love the new steering wheel and front screen, AC vents, etc. What do you think the next gen GT will be like?

Re: GT, who knows, don’t think we will see too much additional leak until after the current Black Series is out there, as that is what all the “leaking” seems to be focused on now.

From what we know this far (in my opinions)
AWD=(win)
Electrification/Hybrid tech=(loss, just not a fan yet, new NSX has many sales flaws, I believe this to be one of the big ones)
Sharing chassis with new SL=(loss, enjoy the AMG design of current chassis being just for this car, not in love with taking a “cruiser” chassis and utilizing on next GT)

Unfortunatey the way regulations and design culture are leaning in the EU, this is where it all appears to be heading.

Cant wait to see and learn more about the next generation of our GT platform though, as it will be exciting to say the least, hopefully not a let down. I am waiting to see it before I decide to keep my current one, or move to the next “GT” if it excites me.

At first glance I really don't like that exterior, the rear looks especially unimaginative and pretty Japanese. Then again, it also took me some time to fall in love with the current gen C and S classes so maybe it'll grow on me.

I love that the gauge cluster is now merely a tablet... and by love, I mean hate.

Looks like a Hyundai + Audi hybrid.

I definitely agree with you guys and it's the same sentiments regarding the facelift 2021 E Class; not a fan at all.

As for the EQ Boost technology, I see it from the standpoint that this is F1 technology trickling down to the performance automobile world and if you don't follow F1, Mercedes is the 6x reigning World Champion. I loathe the day when the growl of an AMG, OMOE, V8 will no longer be heard in future production vehicles.

The outside is meh... ok at best.

The idea that their cars all resemble bigger or smaller versions of the same car is not my thing. Used to be you could tell a C, E apart now they are all morphing into the same car...

Inside with the giant tablet is a hard pass for me. My experience with the MBUX touch screen is leave it alone, it takes your eyes off the road. Use the steering wheel pads or the console touchpad. Having a giant screen is asking for trouble. Just my 2 cents.

.
So 2 things.

1. That interior looks like the AMG Project One interior with the 2 screens + those vents

2. The rear taillights look like the Gen 3 CLS - which is kinda disappointing.

I do wonder if this visual design is more popular in China...kinda a damn shame it looks so bland from the outside. Then again, I never desired an S class - so my opinion doesn't really matter.

The W221 generation was a bit of an exception in looking different from the rest of the lineup. Look at the W202/W124 facelift/W140 - they look mostly the same. Similarly, look at W116/W123, or W201/W126, again very similar design language, distinguished primarily by size. W205/W213/W222 look similar again.
